The Members of the Aberafan Maesteg Constituency Labour Party wish to join the family, friends, NPT Labour Group colleagues and wider Baglan community in mourning the passing of Councillor Peter Richards.

Peter was an extremely popular and well-respected local Councillor, serving the Baglan ward with dedication and distinction since 2004 – highlighted by the fact he obtained over 1,000 votes in every contested election. 

In the last Labour Council administration, Peter served as the Council’s Cabinet Member for Adult Social Care, Health and Wellbeing, and this included serving the communities of Neath Port Talbot during the darkest times of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Peter will be sorely missed by the Labour movement in Aberafan Maesteg and Neath Port Talbot, and our thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends and colleagues at this difficult time.
